First Grade continues to foster a love of learning with lots of hands-on activities and inspiring teachers that understand our Panthers need to get up and move sometimes. There are three classrooms so that the class sizes remain small, allowing for individualized attention and interactions. Student goals and lessons feel more like games, with positive milestones built into the classrooms and chances to recognize positive growth in our Panthers.

Facts about 1st grade:

• Annual book project allows students to be a published illustrator & author 
• MAP testing 3 times/year, reading & math focus (results used to make small groups for individualized learning)
• Ninja Math (students achieve "belts" at each level)
• Sight word basketball
• Weekly fluency packets for reading
• Technology supplements instruction & allows for individualized practice in IXL & XtraMath
• Events include bear baptism, 100 day of school celebration, contraction surgery and verb around the school
