Our sixth graders have grown into the leaders at the elementary campus. They are offered opportunities such as safety patrol, recycling and ushering at Mass to build this leadership, and also serve as examples to our younger Panthers, allowing them to shine. Academically, they are expected to manage increased responsibility and more complex work. They continue to develop a stronger sense of identity though service, leadership and extracurricular opportunities. It is a foundational year to build necessary skills and grow in their studies, positioning them for success in junior high and beyond.

Facts about 6th grade:

• Students switch classrooms for content lessons with each teacher
• Science: hands-on learning using new science curriculum
• ELA: literature discussion books, learn story components, writing papers focused on grammar & improving skills
• Religion: Old Testament, each student receives a Bible
• Math & ELA: differentiated learning groups to meet needs of individuals
• Leadership opportunities include safety patrol, recycling and ushering at Mass
• Can get involved in Science Olympiad and Battle of the Books
• Grade level athletic programs available
