To customize your learning experience, you are able to choose which elective coursework you would like to participate in. In addition to elective offerings, each student will be scheduled for the following coursework which was outlined in your personalized class placement letter. Please note that placements are not meant to label or limit you; rather, we want to make sure that your educational experience best fits your individual strengths and interests.   • 8th Grade Math, Foundations: This course is intended to strengthen math foundations for our 8th graders. Students will follow 8th grade math curriculum, but will also be provided instruction and support related to foundational math skills that they have not yet demonstrated mastery in. 
  • 8th Grade Math, Standard
  • High School Algebra I: The topics in Algebra I (Applications, Equations, Graphs) include properties of real numbers, linear equations and inequalities, systems of linear equations and inequalities, exponents, radical and rational expressions, correlation, linear regression and arithmetic and geometric sequences. Students will graph, solve and apply linear, exponential, and quadratic functions and will create plots of data.
    • This course has entry requirements that include NWEA test scores and teacher recommendation. This course is a high school level course that allows students to earn high school credits while still in 8th grade. The course maintains the requirements of the Algebra I curriculum and includes a final exam, weighted at 20% of the final semester grade.
    • Successful completion of this course will result in earning 1.0 high school Mathematics credits.
• Science

To provide a wider array of elective offerings, the electives listed above will be offered to all junior high students and will include 7th and 8th grade students together, unless otherwise indicated. Please note that final course offerings will be determined by student demand. Moreover, there are varying seat capacities for each course. Selections are subject to availability on a first come, first served basis. Please note that priority will be given to students who are officially registered for the 2025-2026 school year

• Junior High Digital Technology: Students will learn how to use Canva, Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides, and more), responsible use of AI, and Magic Schools for Students.
• 8th Grade Leadership
• High School Spanish I: Students will develop a basic foundation in Spanish through communicative activities, group and partner work, vocabulary building skills, and an introduction to basic grammatical structures. Students will learn fundamental cultural information about Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world via movies, songs, food, etc. Course is taught in both Spanish and English.
  • This course is an integrated class with both high school and 8th grade students and includes a mid-term and final exam weighted at 20% of the semester grade. Successful completion of this course will result in earning 1.0 World Language credits for high school.
• High School Health: Health Education is a graduation requirement for Michigan high school students. The high school curriculum will be delivered to interested 8th grade students who would like to work towards completing this graduation requirement while still in junior high. 
  • This course is an integrated class with both high school and 8th grade students. It includes a final exam weighted at 20% of the semester grade. Successful completion of this course will result in earning 0.5 high school credits in Health Education, fulfilling the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirement for Health education in high school.
