Opportunities to learn, love, and lead… courageously don’t just happen in the classrooms at Nouvel Catholic Central. To best prepare students for success, opportunities to explore their interests and excel in athletics, clubs, the arts and other extracurricular activities are equally important.
Nouvel proudly offers 22 varsity sports and athletic clubs for Panther student-athletes. During the 2025–2026 school year, 90% of the student body participated in at least one sport, with 72% competing in multiple sports, many at the varsity level. When participation in the performing arts, including band and theater, is added, student involvement rises to an impressive 97% of the student body being active on campus. Every student is encouraged to get involved, as teams and organizations strive to provide a place where everyone can belong, contribute and shine.
Learning to balance academics, athletics and extracurricular activities in a safe, nurturing environment helps students develop skills that give them a competitive edge long after graduation. Through these experiences, students learn valuable lessons in time management, teamwork, leadership, communication and personal responsibility. They discover how to overcome challenges, set goals and work toward achieving them while supporting and encouraging others along the way. These qualities not only contribute to success in the classroom and on the field, but also prepare students to thrive in college, careers and in their communities as confident, well-rounded leaders.
In the last year, the Nouvel teams have enjoyed much success. A few standout achievements include baseball and boy’s basketball winning districts. FNV hockey and girl’s tennis both bringing home a regional title. The boy’s golf team also won regionals and went on to finish 5th in the state at the MHSAA Tournament. Quite a few Panthers enjoyed individual success, with rising senior Claire Long successfully defending her title as a back-to-back State Champion in the 400 meter.
This success has set up many Panthers for longer term athletic opportunities. Over the past three years alone, 13 Panthers have gone on to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level in sports including football, basketball, golf, soccer, and baseball. While they were fortunate to have those opportunities, they were earned through years of hard work, commitment and perseverance. Many students spent countless hours beyond regular practice sessions training in Nouvel’s Performance Training Centers at both the high school and junior high campuses, preparing themselves to compete at the next level, all while maintaining their academic grades, serving in their communities and participating in extracurricular activities in the Parish/church and school.
Nouvel’s student-athletes receive the benefit of smaller class sizes, individualized attention and the opportunity to participate in multiple athletic offerings. For more information on Nouvel or their outstanding academics or athletics programs, please visit www.NouvelCatholic.org/Explore.
